Role: Sous Chef

Pay: £40,000 to £45,000 per year + Tips

Job Type: Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Location: The Boathouse, 9 Quay Road, Christchurch BH23 1BU


We are looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our busy waterside restaurant and friendly kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable, and confident working in a fast paced environment while supporting the Head Chef in delivering high quality dishes and maintaining exceptional kitchen standards.

Your job role will include:

· Supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.

· Leading and motivating the kitchen team in the Head Chef’s absence.

· Preparing and cooking high-quality dishes to company standards.

· Assisting with menu development and seasonal specials.

· Ensuring consistent presentation and quality of all food served.

· Managing food preparation and service during busy periods.

· Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering and stock control.

· Minimising waste and maintaining GP targets.

· Ensuring all food hygiene, health and safety, and HACCP procedures are followed.

· Training and developing junior chefs and kitchen staff.

· Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment.

· Assisting with rotas and ensuring smooth kitchen operations.

What we are looking for:

· Flexible and willing to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

· Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong experience as a Senior Chef de Partie.

· Excellent leadership and communication skills.

· Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen management.

· Good verbal and written English.

· Strong initiative and a proactive attitude.

· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

· Passion for fresh food and delivering exceptional dining experiences.
