Assistant Manager

This isn’t just another Assistant Manager role. This is your chance to step into a proper pub with real character, a loyal community, and a team that genuinely cares about what they do.

The Bull is a 16th-century pub with rooms, right at the heart of Ditchling. We’re busy all year round! From locals at the bar, to destination diners in the restaurant, to guests staying in our six bedrooms. Add in a buzzing garden in summer and you’ve got a pub that never stands still.

We’re looking for an Assistant Manager who wants more than just running shifts. Someone who wants to learn how to run a business.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be right in the middle of it all:

  • Leading shifts and setting the tone on the floor
  • Supporting and developing the team day-to-day
  • Driving standards, energy, and guest experience
  • Working closely with the GM to understand the bigger picture! From sales to people to profit

This is a role where you’ll grow fast if you want to.

What We Offer Our Assistant Managers:

  • Access to our Career Pathway and development towards GM - A large majority of our GM appointments are internal
  • Access to our fully funded apprenticeships and training and development courses
  • 20% discount in all Young's Pubs and 30% discount on overnight stays in our Pubs with Rooms
  • Access to our Share Save Scheme
  • Free Meals
  • 28 Days holiday per year
  • Company Pension Scheme

What we look for in an Assistant Manager:

We are looking for a motivated & experienced Assistant Manager to join and lead our team in our stylish, food focused pub. As the successful Assistant Manager you will have a genuine passion for exceptional customer service and a pro-active approach to team management. You will be enthusiastic & driven to continue the success of our pub and play a pivotal part in training our team to ensure they have the knowledge needed to delight our customers.  You will also be someone who is committed to their career in hospitality and we can offer ongoing development to support you as you grow and succeed with us.
