Bungalow 44
The building went through an array of different usages. In the 1950’s is was a “Flying A” gas station, in the 60’s a Station 66, and in the 70’s one of the first copy marts.<br><br>Joe Leis built the successful Avenue Grill in 1985 for 15 years. Avenue Grill was known for their meat loaf, burgers, popcorn shrimp dish and a lively bar. Mill Valley residents enjoyed going there a lot.<br><br>In 2001 Mudbugs, a Louisiana style restaurant, opened up and shortly after that it became Cascade Bar and Grill.<br><br>Today, Bungalow 44, is the 4th restaurant at this location in Mill Valley. Bungalow refers to the architect style that was created by the Architect brothers Green and Green in the early 20thcentury. The arts and craft style was developed and this unique building style became very quickly associated with Californian architecture.<br><br>You can see this style in our pendant lights hanging above the bar and above the kitchen counter. The entrance to Bungalow 44 is typical of a California bungalow as well.
