Position Summary
Our R&D department is a dedicated, experienced team that strives to create the next great bakery product and uphold top-tier standards. Our collaborative goal is to shake up the baking industry with innovation and superior quality. We are looking for a self-motivated and productive baker to assist our R&D Department in recipe testing and documentation. We develop new concepts, as well as improve current product lines for quality and longevity.
Responsibilities
Follow directions of a recipe to test recipe formulations, raw materials, and produce samples
Use basic math skills to scale up recipes as needed
Assist Food Scientists and Head of R&D with recipe/product development
Assist with internal shelf-life studies and other lab tests
Maintain cleanliness, organization and stock of ingredients and tools in R&D kitchen
Enter recipes into Excel and other R&D/Production databases
Prepare samples to be shipped to clients as needed
Follow and uphold GMP standards
Observe and document pilot runs of new products to record item information and update specs as necessary
Assist Food Scientists and Head of R&D with other daily tasks as needed
Qualifications
Some college or culinary school preferred
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Drive, Sheets, Docs, etc.)
Ability to work well in a busy environment
Must have experience working in a professional kitchen/bakery setting to understand flow and concept
Experience in nutritional data programs and form standardization are a big plus!
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to meet tight deadlines
Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time (8+ hours a day)
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 LB
General understanding of safe and sanitary workplace practices
