Position Summary

The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the General Manager with the overall success of the Bakery. He/she will manage the daily operations of the assigned Bakery location and be accountable for the profit and loss (P&L) for their location. This position is responsible for increasing customer satisfaction and creating a positive work environment for our staff.


Responsibilities

  • Manage and motivate Bakery employees through constant communication and regular team meetings

  • Responsible with staffing level and determining which staff are assigned to each shift

  • Make sure customers always receive exceptional customer service

  • Make sure our baked goods are baked and decorated according to Carlo’s Bakery product standards

  • Ensure operations are in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards

  • Oversee opening and closing procedures and processes (opening/closing shifts)

  • Manage store financials – cash handling procedures and cost control (P&L) with the direction of our corporate Finance Dept

  • Perform administrative duties including running reports in Paychex and POS

  • Manage inventory, in-stock position, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor, security, expense control and other operational processes to company standards

  • Ensure team members greet, assist, provide efficient service and thank guests in a prompt, courteous, friendly and business-like manner to promote the company image as a service-oriented operation

  • Supervise, train and develop team members in accordance with company policies and procedures

  • Evaluate storefront conditions and operations to determine strengths and areas for improvement

  • Ensure company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity is maintained

  • Take lead and guide staff on product questions and offer assistance in finding or suggesting product selection to customers

  • Oversee all Bakery cleaning, including: walls, floors, display cases, electronics, machinery and work area

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of retail/restaurant management experience

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

  • Ability to work well in a busy environment

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and build efficient teams

  • High energy and engaging personality

  • Professional demeanor

  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time (8+ hours a day)

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays (according to customer 

  • demand)

  • Demonstrate knowledge of entire product line and preparation

  • Food Protection Manager Certification holder
