Job Opportunity: Café & Events General Manager

We're looking for a Café & Events General Manager to oversee two busy and vibrant café venues in Cambridge.

Location: You will be based at The Courtyard Café, Fitzwilliam Museum, Trumpington Road, Cambridge, CB2 1RB but you will be required to work at The Cavendish Café, Ray Dolby Centre, 19 JJ Thompson Avenue, Cambridge, CB3 0HE on a rotational basis.

Salary: £33,000 - £36,000 depending on experience.

Hours: Variable, based on café operations and events - Predominately daytime.

About the Role:
As General Manager, you'll be responsible for the smooth running of daily operations and event delivery across both cafés. This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role requiring energy, flexibility, and a “can’t do enough to please” attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day café operations, stock levels, and supplier orders
• Oversee team rotas, training, and staff development
• Deliver high standards of food safety, hygiene, and customer service
• Coordinate internal events and meetings
• Maintain facilities and handle any required maintenance
• Build strong customer relationships to encourage loyalty and boost reputation
• Report weekly to the Area Manager

• Bring energy and passion to the role
• Must have attention to detail
• Be flexible and provide a ‘cannot do enough to please’ approach
• Possess excellent communication skills with the CDC team
• At least 2/3yrs of cafe experience
• Be a team player
