Job Title: Café & Events Area Manager

Reports to: Managing Director
Locations: Cambridge & Ely
Contract Type: Full-time

Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Café & Events Area Manager to oversee the operations & development of multiple café venues and their associated events. This role is responsible for maintaining consistent service and operational standards, leading high-performing teams, and driving profitability across all locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and manage General Managers and their teams across multiple café and event venues.
  • Travel between venues regularly to ensure operational consistency and support venue leadership.
  • Report performance metrics and updates weekly to the Managing Director.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain customers, and increase venue profitability.
  • Ensure effective communication across teams, including regular liaison with General Managers and senior management.
  • Oversee event execution and support General Managers in managing venue-specific challenges.
  • Uphold and enforce food safety, health & safety, and COSHH standards across all venues.
  • Act swiftly and effectively in crisis situations and be fully informed on emergency procedures at each location.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on approach with a proactive and flexible mindset.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, particularly in crisis situations.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and operational compliance requirements.

  • At least 3 years of experience in café management or a similar fast-paced hospitality environment.

Working Hours

This is a full-time role with daytime variable hours, depending on the needs of each venue and their respective General Managers. The successful candidate will be expected to plan their week effectively to ensure all meetings and operational requirements are met.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £48,000.00-£58,000.00 per year
