Located on the shores of Penn Cove on Whidbey Island, in the heart of Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve, Captain Whidbey has provided legendary island hospitality and dining since 1907. With 30 rooms, a new restaurant and bar concept, 6 beautiful acres and a dock for seaplanes, boats, and kayaks on Penn Cove, Captain Whidbey will become the coolest place to work on Whidbey.

Purpose of the Position
This unique position is a combination of Event Sales and Banquet/Event management. This position is responsible for not only maintaining existing clients but for outbound lead generation and inbound lead handling of new corporate and leisure events, groups, weddings, and retreats of any kind. This position also acts as the lead on all day of event management, coordinating and overseeing the successful execution of all events.

** While there may be an opportunity for this position to be Seattle area based (or anywhere off Island), and work a combination of off and onsite days, preference will be given to candidates within 30 minutes of the hotel and candidates with sales and/or resort/hotel/event sales experience.

Position Mission/Overview
The Event Sales Manager oversees the sales and execution of all client functions to ensure customer satisfaction and a unique Captain Whidbey experience.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

As a Sales and Event coordination function this position includes the following responsibilities, but is not limited to:
• Responsible for entertaining and maintaining relationships with existing clients to meet and/or exceed food and beverage and group rooms
revenue goals.
• The essential functions of the job require: careful attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to establish and
maintain strong relationships with hotel clients.
• Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals.
• This position will support the achievement of set revenue goals through effective telephone sales skills in response to individual guest/client
inquiries as well as in person lead generation activities, one on one meetings and general industry connections. This will consist of telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, and written communication.
• Preparing correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
• Participate in daily business (lead) review with GM, weekly events/BEO meetings, sales strategy meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and
other sales-related meetings as required.


Time Management:

• 50% - Solicit new, respond to new inquiries and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals. This will consist of telephone solicitation, outside
sales calls, site inspections and written communication including the daily use of Tripleseat, our event/sales software.
• 15% - Preparing correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
• 5% - Participate in daily business (lead) review, sales strategy meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as
required.
• 20% - Execute all booked events
• 5% - Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
• 5% - Attending community / social events and industry meetings.
• Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Company from time to time, is essential to the successful
performance of this position.
• Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, employee may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the
business needs of the hotel. This may include weekends and holidays.
• Maintain knowledge of all Hotel services/features and hours of operation.


Education/Vocational Experience

• Hospitality degree is preferred.
• The individual must have 2-years of previous hotel sales or event planning experience.
• The individual must have intermediate typing skills for speed and accuracy.
• The individual must posses the aptitude to learn industry-specific​ programs such as POS, PMS and Catering or Event management systems.
