Description
The Captain Whidbey has undergone an amazing transformation and re-opened in April.

The Captain Whidbey was recently featured in Sunset Magazine, Vogue and Conde Nast Traveler.

Purpose of Position

Come join the new ownership and management team at the Captain Whidbey. We have many events in August and are looking for great seasonal/event service staff for PT and on-call work. Must be able to work weekends.

We are also looking for PT and FT Seasonal servers and bartenders for our bar and restaurant. Must be flexible and be able to work weekends.


The Server is the director of the guest experience at Captain Whidbey. The role of the Server is to serve the guests in a friendly sincere manner, and insure them the best possible service.


Position Mission/Overview

You may be expected to complete 2 weeks of training where you will be introduced to all the policies and daily procedures that make up your job.
You must memorize the floor charts, seating numbers and floor layout.
You must have a good working knowledge of the wine list, menu ingredients, POS and pass all quizzes/tests in order to be scheduled. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

We want to exceed our guests’ expectations and deliver the best service anywhere. In
order to achieve that goal, we have developed service goals that should be followed by
every server, every shift, for every guest. You should strive to meet the following goals,
but your responsibilities as a member of the team are not limited to this list.
 Greeting and pitching your guests within one minute.
 Up sells at every opportunity.
 Pre-bus and maintain your tables.
 Complete all side work.
 Make sure hot food is delivered hot, and cold food is delivered cold.
 Executes the policy of full hands in full hands out.
 Ensure quality food and beverages for you guests.
 Greet every guest you pass and make them feel welcome.
 Presents accurate bills and collect payment in a timely fashion.
 Thank every guest for visiting us and invite them to return to Captain Whidbey.
 Maintain a clean restaurant at all times.
 Communicates with and supports all staff to serve the guests.
 Guides and monitors the guests dining experience.
 Employ teamwork.


Position Expectations

 Welcome and greet guests. Make all our guests feel comfortable and let them know you’re there to personally take care of them.
 Inform guests of specials and menu changes.
 Make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy.
 Answer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services.
 Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our point-of- sale system, which relays orders to the kitchen and bar.
 Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely matter.
 Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment.
 Maintain clean service areas.
 Monitor and observe guests dining experience. Ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
 Be ready and willing to assist fellow servers as situations arise.
 Be ready and willing to assist bus person with clearing and resetting tables.
 Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.
 Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
 Prepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges or make change (if applicable).

Required Position Skills

 Be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
 Must have a basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions.
 Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of- sale system.
 Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).

Experience

The education, specialized training, required licenses or certifications and/or years of directly related experience required to enter this job:
• Must be able to communicate and understand the restaurant’s common language (English).
• Two to Three years of employment as a Server or Bartender is preferred
• WA state Liquor and Food Handlers Card is REQUIRED
