The Title:  

Quality Assurance Technician 

 
The Role: 
We are looking for someone who is passionate about food and fanatic about high standards.    As a CAVA Quality Assurance Technician, you will be responsible for executing and enforcing daily quality-based tasks that are instrumental to maintaining CAVA’s quality.   Our Quality Assurance Technicians adhere to all plant GMP’s and lead others by example through following very important FSQA behaviorsThis position will report directly to the Food Safety and Quality Manager, offers limited overtime, and requires some scheduling flexibility.  

  

What You’ll Do: 

  • Administers equipment and sensory based Quality Assurance checks (pH, temperature, titrations, inspections, taste/visual checks, verification checks, etc.) 
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments 
  • Conducts ATP and Environmental Swabbing, monitoring sanitation testing results and trends 
  • Evaluates raw materials to ensure Quality Control standards for ingredients and packaging 
  • Observes and reviews production practices and behaviors to verify adherence to procedures 
  • Works closely with production staff to implement holds, corrective actions and document processes 
  • Assists management to develop and review SOP’s 
  • Manages sample submissions to outside lab and tracks results for anomalies 
  • Conducts quality-based training with assistance from management 
  • Contributes insight and feedback to management team to improve upon current processes 
  • Executes additional projects and tasks as assigned by the Food Safety and Quality Manager 
  • Perform allergen testing 
  • Perform label verification on finished product packaging 
  • Work closely with Processing Department to verify critical limits were met during High Pressure Processing 
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices 
  • Aides in production of products as required. 
  • Abide by policies and procedures that support the service mindset 
  • Manage timeline expectations within and across teams, deliver on our responsibilities accordingly 
  • Earn the trust of Team Members and Managers by consistently embracing CAVA’s values 
  • Show discipline in bringing consistent performance, communication, and attitude to the job every day 
  • Actively contribute to your department in order to complete tasks and meet company goals 
  • Recognize the emotional stake each Team Member has in personal and organizational success of this business 

 

The Qualifications: 

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in food science, Chemistry or other science, or equivalent experience 
  • 2+ years of experience in the food manufacturing industry 
  • Experience in Quality Assurance is a plus 
  • Possess exceptional analytical skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills 
  • Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Must have excellent organization skills 
  • Must be self-driven and able to work independently to deliver results in a timely manner 
  • Must have familiarity with Food Safety plans 
  • HACCP certification desired 
  • PCQI certification desired 

  

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to work in a cold environment, standing and walking up to 75% 
  • Physical ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer 
  • Must be able to learn and operate basic production and sanitation equipment 
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other office equipment 
  • Must be able to identify, assess and observe detail 
  • Must be able to occasionally push, pull, lift or carry up to 50 pounds 
  • Must be able to roll 500 lb bowls of product 
  • Need to have good dexterity and possess abilities to make critical sensory observations 
  • Ability to work around chemicals such as chlorine and/or other sanitizers 
  • Ability to see, hear, and speak regularly 
  • Ability to squat, kneel, bend and twist occasionally 
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
