 Title: Maintenance Technician I 

 The Maintenance Tech is an entry-to-intermediate role focused on executing preventative maintenance, supporting repairs, and developing technical skills under the guidance of senior maintenance staff.  The technician I brings a strong willingness to learn, develop technical skills, and gain exposure to a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems while supporting daily plant operations. The technician supports and maintains a safe work environment and equipment reliability to improve the operations of CAVA Foods. The role supports safety, equipment, production, quality, and distribution to support the consumer-packaged goods business and our CAVA locations throughout the US. This role reports to the Maintenance and Facilities Manager and Operations team to support production operations, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.   

 

What You’ll Do:    

  • Perform regular maintenance activities in compliance with GMPs, food safety standards, and sanitation requirements to prevent contamination or product risk.   

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance throughout the facility 

  • Assists senior technicians with:  

  • Equipment tear-downs 

  • Line changeovers 

  • Troubleshooting  

  • Executes PMs as written and follows established PM procedure, reporting abnormalities or repeat failures.   

  • Supports sanitation and pre-op inspections as needed.  

  • Escalates issues appropriately  

  • Learns plant-specific systems  

  • Perform repairs and equipment installation/removal in an efficient manner. 

  • Maintain good housekeeping at workstations and work areas. 

  • Respond to plant emergencies including equipment malfunction, fires, severe weather, etc. as directed by plant leadership.  

  • Demonstrate proper lock out / tag out procedures and maintain a safe working environment. 

  • Complete daily maintenance paperwork for assigned work orders/requests and checklists. 

  • Special projects/duties as assigned by maintenance supervisor or manager. 

  • Be willing to assist in operation of equipment throughout the shift. 

  • Comfortable asking questions  

  • Receptive to feedback and coaching 

  • Takes responsibility for building skills over time  

  • Abide by policies and procedures that support the service mindset 

  • Manage timeline expectations within and across teams, deliver on our responsibilities accordingly 

  • Actively contribute to your department in order to complete tasks and meet company goals 

 

The Qualifications: 

  • 0-3  years of experience in manufacturing maintenance  

  • Experience in food manufacturing preferred  

  • Demonstrated willingness to learn new equipment, systems, and maintenance practices.  

  • Ability to receive coaching and apply feedback to improve technical skills and work quality.  

  • Proactive in asking questions and seeking clarification to ensure work is completed safely and correctly.  

  • Basic knowledge of  Microsoft Office

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus  

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to maintain stationary position to be able to operate a computer and other office equipment 

  • Must be able to identifyanalyze and assess details 

  • For certain positions, must be able to occasionally move or transport items up to 50 pounds 

  • Ability to communicate with others and exchange information accurately and effectively 

  • Constantly positions self and move about to support ordinary restaurant or food production support or office operations, as applicable 

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
