Now Hiring: Graphic Design Intern / Summer Internship Program

Candidates must be in a Graphic Design degree program or have equivalent graphic design experience

PLEASE NOTE ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working all four days (July 11-14, 2024) of the Windy City Smokeout festival is mandatory, and working both days of the NASCAR race (July 6 & 7, 2024) is also mandatory. 
  • Interns will work other Lettuce sponsored events throughout the summer and must attend weekly educational meetings, which will run Tuesday, May 28, through Tuesday, August 6, 2024.  
  • Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.

The Graphic Design Intern participates in and completes internship program activities and supports the graphic design team in various functions including but not limited to creating and designing branded digital and physical collateral in a wide range of media, and presenting to internal clients through visual, verbal and written communication.

Essential Functions

  • Participate in and complete weekly seminars, management checklists, management feedback, summer festivals (e.g., Windy City Smokeout for Chicago area interns), restaurant concept project, Intern Expo, group events and other program activities
  • Assist in and perform a variety of graphic designer functions including but not limited to creating and revising graphic content using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign) and Google Drive; conceptualizing, designing, updating, presenting and producing branded digital and physical collateral in a wide range of media for multiple Lettuce concepts; collaborating on UI/UX design; assisting with in-house production of print materials; and performing administrative tasks including but not limited to organizing and preparing files for print and data entry and accurate time tracking
  • Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment
  • Work a variety of days and shifts including weekends and nights
  • Effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
  • Multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
  • Work in a confined, crowded space of variable light, noise and temperature levels
  • Ability to occasionally retrieve and distribute files or office supplies weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfaces

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in and perform various other responsibilities including but not limited to delivering menus, collateral, and other design materials to restaurants as needed
  • Ensure the overall guest experience exceeds expectations and anticipate guests’ needs
  • Greet guests with a warm, sincere smile
  • Use tact and good judgement when dealing with guest challenges and respond to guest needs with patience and courtesy
  • Proficiently use and operate all necessary tools and equipment
  • Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Get along well with others and be a team player
  • Other duties will be assigned as needed
