SUMMER 2024 INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: Now Hiring PR Corporate Intern!

- All applicants must have at least one year of hospitality, retail or other customer service experience to be considered.
- The PR Intern will work out of our Corporate office.
- Interns will attend weekly virtual meetings in which Lettuce industry experts cover topics such as restaurant financials, menu creation, marketing and more.
- The internship includes a group project with a final presentation at a live expo in Chicago.
ALL CHICAGO-BASED INTERNS: Please be aware that working all four days (July 11-14, 2024) of the Windy City Smokeout festival are mandatory. Additionally, interns will be expected to work other Lettuce sponsored events throughout the summer. Interns in other markets with interest in working the Windy City Smokeout, may do so with prior approval from their partners and/or general managers.
The Intern program will consist of weekly educational meetings, which will run
Tuesday, May 28, 2024 through Tuesday, August 6, 2024 as well as the practical portion of working on the PR team at the Corporate office. The start and end dates for the practical portion will be jointly agreed upon by the general manager and the intern.
Interns are responsible for their own housing and transportation.

Corporate Summer Interns participate in and complete internship program activities.
The Public Relations Intern participates
in and completes internship program activities and supports the Public
Relations (PR) team in various functions including but not limited to writing
and editing copy in multiple forms, media monitoring, and organizing press
photos and media lists.
Essential Functions
- Participate
in and complete weekly seminars, management checklists, management feedback,
summer festivals (e.g., Windy City Smokeout for Chicago area interns),
restaurant concept project, Intern Expo, group events and other program
activities
- Assist in and perform a variety of
public relations (PR) functions including but not limited to writing and
editing copy (including but not limited to press pitches/releases, corporate
campaigns, newsletter briefs, blog content and bio information); maintaining
the blog content calendar; gathering, organizing and maintaining press photos;
daily media monitoring; creating and maintaining media outreach lists using
journalist database tool; and using Wordpress efficiently
- Safely and effectively use and operate
all necessary tools and equipment
- Work a variety of days and shifts including
weekends and nights
- Effectively communicate in order to
perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
- Multitask calmly and effectively in a
busy, stressful environment
- Work in a
confined, crowded space of variable light, noise and temperature levels
- Ability to occasionally retrieve and
distribute files or office supplies weighing up to 10 pounds
- Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift and move safely
through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick
surfaces

- Greet guests with a warm, sincere smile
- Use tact and good judgement when dealing
with guest challenges and respond to guest needs with patience and courtesy

and sanitation guidelines and procedures
- Follow all rules,
policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in
the Employee Handbook
- Get along well with
others and be a team player
- Other duties will be
assigned as needed
