£8.00 - £12.71 an hour

We serve over 3 million meals every year from 40 of our award-winning Fish and Chip takeaways and restaurants in the South, Southwest and Southeast of England, under 5 brands: Fish n’ Chickn’, Churchill’s, Bankers, The Boundary and Toffs Fish Restaurants.

The Kitchen Porter plays an essential role in keeping the kitchen clean, safe and running efficiently. The role is responsible for maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene, washing and storing kitchen equipment, crockery, cutlery and glassware, supporting with deliveries and waste disposal, and providing practical support to the kitchen team during busy service periods.

Full-time and part-time opportunities are available. The role involves a mixture of day and evening shifts, including weekends, depending on business needs.


Main Responsibilities:

- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, preparation, wash up and back of house areas.
- Wash, clean, sanitise and safely store crockery, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment, keeping the wash up area organised and ready for service.
- Follow daily and deep - cleaning schedules, including floors, surfaces, equipment and other designated areas.
- Receive, unload and put away deliveries promptly and safely, storing items in the correct areas and reporting any issues to a manager.
- Support the kitchen team with basic food preparation, restocking and other duties where required and once appropriately trained.
- Follow all food safety, allergen, COSHH, manual - handling and health and safety procedures, reporting hazards or equipment faults promptly.
- Dispose of waste and recycling correctly and help maintain clean and tidy storage areas.
- Work as part of the wider team and comply with company policies, procedures and reasonable  management requests.

- High standards of cleanliness and hygiene, with good attention to detail

- Previous Kitchen Porter, catering or hospitality experience is an advantage, but not essential

At Churchill’s, our journey began way back in the early 1920s when Great Grandpa Harold, and wife Dorothy painstakingly saved all the money he earned from mining and playing amateur cricket for Accrington and moved from the north to Essex to buy their first ever fish and chip shop in in Romford, in 1923. Three generations of our family later, it’s safe to say we’re fish and chip super geeks through and through!

That is why we only source fish from sustainable fishing sources and our fresh Red Tractor Approved Shropshire Chickens are barn reared. We also recycle our waste oil into Bio Diesel and our packaging is made of recycled material and or biodegradable.
