Citarella is seeking a SEAFOOD DEPARTMENT MANAGER join our culinary team! The SEAFOOD Department Manager is responsible for managing the fish counter clerks, responsible for the training fish team in filleting, descaling, and handling fish items, managing in-stock levels, pricing integrity, merchandising, labor and any other operational processes of the fish department to company standards.

Job Qualifications:
• 2-3 years’ experience managing a Seafood department is required, preferably in a supermarket environment; or closely related role/experience
• Flexibility to work store schedule including nights, weekends and holidays, open and close schedule.
• Ability to perform physical requirements of job including standing during scheduled hours, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, lifting items of usually 5 -60 pounds. Working rapidly, especially during peak periods to ensure that all customers are being services properly and the store operations are being completed in a timely manner
• Superior customer service skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Food safety and sanitation knowledge
• Ability to display initiative and work with limited supervision.
• Proficient computer knowledge and skills; Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
• Ability to train current and new employees in department standards and product knowledge
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• Analytical ability and proficiency in math needed to perform job responsibilities

Responsibilities & Duties:
• Oversee multiple-shift operations of the seafood department
• Manage department profitability, merchandising, guest service, appearance, and associate supervision
• Ensure adherence to all company standards regarding product quality and food safety practices
• Manage all seafood department personnel, to include training, development, and performance management of all supervisory and hourly employees.
• Monitor raw material and packaging inventories to ensure adequate supply, freshness, and proper product rotation
• Responsible for overall department appearance, cleanliness, and adherence to both government and corporate ordinances.
• Develop schedules, monitor performance, and recommend the proper discipline as appropriate.
• Train employees in job responsibilities and safe operating procedures
• Review inventory for product rotation daily to prevent shrinkage and damages.
• Ensure that shelf pricing is correct and reflects the most recent pricing and market conditions.
• Supervise the receiving of all seafood products and ensures that the proper paperwork is completed.
• Maintain refrigerated equipment and makes sure maintenance contracts and schedules are followed.
• Supervise the ordering of seafood products from vendors on a regular basis
• Make sure all the employees in the department are properly trained to work the equipment
• Coordinate that the pallets stored in the racks have the proper date tags.
• Follow program to maintain the cleanliness of the area by a regular maintenance schedule of scrubbing, and pulling out pallets and cleaning underneath.
• Maintain that all signage is correct and that the flyers prices are reflected on the product.
• Perform additional duties, responsibilities and projects as assigned.
