Position Summary

The Marketing Specialist plays a key supporting role within the City Winery Chicago marketing team. Working under the guidance of the Marketing Manager, this position focuses on the administrative and executional tasks that keep daily, weekly, and monthly marketing initiatives running smoothly. The Marketing Specialist assists with social media, email campaigns, collateral upkeep, and partner outreach while also serving as an on-the-ground brand ambassador during shows and community efforts. This role collaborates with internal teams and artist representatives to ensure marketing plans are implemented accurately and on time, helping increase visibility and audience engagement across digital, print, and in-venue channels.


Overview of Responsibilities

●       Digital Marketing Support

○       Draft, schedule, and send on-sale announcements, targeted promotional emails, and weekly SMS campaigns.

○       Create and publish Facebook Events for upcoming shows and ensure accuracy across digital platforms.

○       Manage and post engaging content across social media channels; monitor and respond to Meta messages, comments, and audience engagement.

○       Track and report marketing metrics (Google Analytics, Iterable, ticketing data).

○       Maintain Yext listings and other local search platforms.

○       Research and compile cross-promotion opportunities.

○       Establish and monitor Google Alerts

●       Administrative & Reporting Support

○       Maintain and update venue slideshow displays.

○       Update the BandsInTown spreadsheet with upcoming events.

○       Audit ticketing links for errors, sub-billing, and missing information.

○       Generate programming reports for shows with low ticket sales.

○       Build and maintain lists for press and promotional opportunities.

○       Prepare and distribute weekly promotional audit reports.

○       Manage and update Asana tasks for artwork, graphics, and campaign updates.

●       Collateral & In-Venue Marketing

○       Conduct daily walk-throughs of the venue to check and replace marketing collateral.

○       Coordinate and support Street Team efforts, including poster printing, collateral drop-offs, and partner outreach.

○       Capture and create content onsite for live posting.

○       Attend at least one show bi-weekly to assess in-venue marketing, capture live content, and observe audience engagement.

●       Promotional Partnerships & Artist Support

○       Submit shows to event listing sites, local promotional partners, community groups, and relevant Facebook groups.

○       Submit ticket allocations to promo partners based on programming needs.

○       Liaison with artist teams for promotional content.

○       Support the Marketing Manager with execution of special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

●       Minimum 2 years’ experience in a marketing role (hospitality, entertainment, or live events strongly preferred).

●       Metrics-driven marketing mindset with strong creative instincts.

●       Professional communication skills — written, oral, and interpersonal.

●       Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple deadlines.

●       Proficiency in marketing tools and platforms: Asana (a plus), Google Suite, Microsoft Office, social media management tools, Google Analytics, Iterable (a plus), Zynchro, and Yext.

●       Passion for live music, hospitality, and community engagement.

●       Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

●       Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred.
