Event Captain

Description

City Winery strives to deliver the highest-end combined culinary and cultural experience to our customers who are passionate in sharing our enthusiasm of wine, music, and culinary arts. This is the first City Winery not in a city, but on a beautiful 22-acre property in Montgomery, New York which is a fully functioning winery, tasting room and restaurant, as well as a site focused on Private Events. This stunning, 130-year-old historic Mill has been restored to its original romantic glory, with every detail exquisitely reimagined and crafted with the touch of rustic yet urban class that is unique to City Winery.

City Winery Event Captains will host events in coordination with the Manager on Duty (MOD) to execute the
Banquet Event Order (BEO), supervise the staff, coordinate with kitchen and present the greatest standards
of hospitality to the client and guests.

We are thrilled and fortunate to be able to resume business and provide a safe workplace for our employees. In the interest of safety for all City Winery employees, the Company requires all employees to be vaccinated unless due to a bona fide medical and/or sincerely held religious reason in which case a reasonable accommodation will be provided unless it causes an undue hardship to City Winery.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
● Have a complete knowledge of the BEO prior to the event and be responsible for execution of event
● Provide a full breakout of staff responsibilities 30 minutes prior to event pre-shift, with MOD
approval if necessary
● For events with a Wine Captain, ensure that the Wine Captain is prepped with the beverage needs of
the BEO, pull sheet(s), and any coordination they will need to perform with multiple bars, set up and
breakdown times for any bars, and tracking of consumption packages as called for by the event.
When there is no Wine Captain assigned to an event, the Event Captain will perform these duties.
● Run the pre-shift meeting with MOD as needed, assigning and explain staff roles.
● During events with dinner service, ensure that kitchen expo and tableside service of courses is
executed properly
● Supervise staff during event to ensure they are staying on task and that they are utilizing any down
time properly, suggesting early cuts where appropriate
● Supervise handling of both rented and in-house materials to ensure they are handled with care to
avoid breakage or loss
● Any other tasks as requested by Management
Closing Responsibilities :

scheduled event end time to discuss possibility of extension
● Communicate with Event Wine Captains and other bar staff that all alcohol service will cease at the
scheduled time

politely yet actively encourage responsible parties to assist in guest departure

guests and staff during the event. Upon discovery of a satisfactory cleanup, clock out all staff with
MOD approval
