Position Summary
The Expeditor is the focal point of communication between the back of house and front of house with respect to dish preparation, presentation, quality control, and kitchen execution during service. This role monitors the scheduling and quality of the dishes including appropriate temperature, texture, presentation, and orchestrates the stations behind the line in concert.


Overview of Responsibilities

● Ensure efficient flow of orders between kitchen and guests
● Serve as liaison between the kitchen and the service staff
● Clearly articulate priority of orders, requests, changes to dishes, and feedback to kitchen team while being mindful of volume due to open kitchen setting
● Ensure orders are being prepared with the correct priority
● Complete all plate presentations per the recipe/plate presentation specifications
● Pass a final quality check on the food for plate presentation, temperature, garnish and time
● Maintain a thorough working knowledge of recipes, ingredients, allergens, and food presentation
● Check dishes for accuracy, presentation and temperature before passing to food runners for delivery
● Maintain department cleanliness and organization, adhere to safe work practices, and follow all food safety, health and sanitation standards
● Communicate clearly with food runner team to ensure efficiency of dish delivery to guests and timeliness during service
● Inspect the premises according to quality and sanitation standards and participate in cleaning
● Stock and arrange kitchen utensils and dishes in an orderly manner
● Handle glassware and other fragile tableware to prevent breakage
● Ensure all products and prepared items are labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated following FIFO
● Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines including being ready to work at scheduled shift time, in uniform, with neat and presentable appearance.
● Support and perform all other duties, project, initiatives, tasks as per business need

Minimum Qualifications

● 2+ years as expediter in a fast-paced, high-volume service kitchen and/or equivalent relevant experience
● Strong work ethic, calm demeanor with customer-focused approach, and immaculate attention to detail
● Open kitchen experience preferred
● Demonstrated knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations
● Well-organized with the ability to lead and direct people, as well as take direction from others with composure in high pressure environment
● Effective and articulate communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build positive relationships with people in the scope of employment
● Aptitude to resolve problems
● Polished presentation
● Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
● Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
● Ability to perform physical requirements of the role including standing/walking for entirety of shift, bending, pulling, pushing, using stairs, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
● Food Handler’s Certification is a plus
