Job description
Job Title: Winery Technician
Department: Winery
Reports to: Local Winemaker
Job Type: Hourly/ Non- Exempt


Job Summary
This position will support the day to day activities pertaining to winery operations.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have minimum 1 years of “hands-on” wine production experience and/or equivalent relevant experience
- Professional and effective communication skills
- A valid driver’s license is required and clean driving record
- Superior organization skills and attention to detail
- Flexible and able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team
- Ability to perform physical requirements of position including standing for extended periods of time, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, able to lift, carry, push, pull weights of at least 50 pounds.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed. Must be able to work 6 days per week during Harvest season and high-volume seasons (Riverwalk peak months are May and August).


Winery & Equipment Maintenance:
- Responsible for day to day maintenance, sanitation, organization, and upkeep of the winery
- Responsible for maintaining cellar sanitation to CW requirements with daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation of kegs, tanks, fittings, pumps, hoses, etc.
- Must have previous experience using tri-clover stainless steel fittings, hoses and pumps in a winery or brewery setting.

Winemaking:
- Communicate to local winemaker any concern about wine presenting a fault (VA, Brett….).
- Responsible for participating in the maceration at designated winery location during harvest months (September through November), this under the supervision of CW Head winemaker and Assistant Winemaker.
- Responsible for working 6 days per week during harvest (September through November). Day off may be on a weekday.
- Assist in ensuring all full barrels are topped on proper schedule and all empty barrels are maintained correctly (VA check, monthly sulfite, water soaking before filling)
- Responsible for “kegging” CW wines for designated locations to meet high volume demand. (For Chicago Only: The Riverwalk location is open from March through November, with peak months during May-August).

Wine Delivery:
- If applicable based on property, responsible for driving CW truck to deliver CW wine and supplies to designated locations, several days per week (March-November).

CW Tap system, retail tap account and offsite tap set up:
- Responsible for ensuring all CW tap lines (including Barrel on wheel) are cleaned on bi-weekly basis.
- Cellar Assistant will sign contract concerning CW tap system and Barrel on wheel “BOW” system.
- With Chicago winemakers, oversee and maintain CW Riverwalk tap system, including cleaning and repairs.
- Adhere to CW safety practices pertaining to CW tap system and tri-clover keg management.

In addition, this role is expected to support other reasonably assigned duties, tasks, projects, as per business need.
