DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Front of House

PURPOSE OF JOB: To ensure that guest queries/needs are quickly and effectively met at night.  Ensure that regular security checks and fire checks are carried out each night. To carry out a comprehensive night audit.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Duty Manager/Director of Operations

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Responsible for the supervision and operations of premises at night.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Arrive for work on time, dressed neatly in a full clean uniform, well-groomed, wearing a name badge, and presenting a professional appearance to guests.
  • Receive a full handover from Daily Porters, Receptionists on duty, and the Manager on duty.
  • Complete docket checks as appropriate and inform the early Duty Manager of any discrepancies.
  • Carry out security/fire checks at regular intervals (12 am, 2 am, 4 am, and 6 am) or as required; log any irregularities in the handover book and report them to the Duty Manager.
  • Efficiently check guests in and out during duty hours and ensure luggage is handled promptly.
  • Deal with guest enquiries and needs quickly and effectively.
  • Carry out any Lounge/Room Service orders after 11 pm to the agreed standard and maintain cleanliness in kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Collect breakfast cards during floor checks and prepare and deliver room service.
  • Ensure early breakfasts are delivered on time and to standard.
  • Cover bar service after bar staff leave, ensuring correct and diligent cash and stock procedures.
  • Carry out cleaning as per the night cleaning schedule, including cleaning public areas, maintaining the Premier Lounge with stock replenished, cleaning the reception desk and office, refreshing and preparing meeting rooms, cleaning public bathroom areas, and ensuring front areas of the hotel are tidy, clean, and free of debris.
  • Set up meeting rooms if necessary to the agreed standard, ensuring all equipment is correct and in working order.
  • Check the fax machine regularly and ensure guests receive any faxes or messages promptly.
  • Complete a full report of night shift events in the diary and hand over any problems or incidents to the Duty Manager, Receptionist, and Day Porter on duty prior to leaving.
  • Perform any additional reasonable duties assigned by management.
