Description

Job Title: Hotel Butler
Reporting to: Front Office Manager
Responsible for: 
The primary role of the Butler is to provide assistance to the hotel reception team in a wide range of ways. Good communication between the Butler and reception is crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

·         To cover and assist multiple areas of the hotel.

·         To be present for important guest check-ins (usually Address Club) to assist with luggage and guide the guests to the room.

·         Whilst on the journey to the room, the butler should begin with small talk, explain to the guest about the hotel’s facilities (Eg. The gym location and facilities, the breakfast room location and opening times, bar/restaurant location/meal times, 7th floor lounge location).

·         Once the butler reaches the room, they will show the guest the in-room features like bedside controlled curtains, TV control of room lights, room exclusive WIFI and other room features. Before leaving, the Butler should ask if the guest has any other questions.

·         To take room service orders to and from the rooms.

·         To coordinate with reception for room numbers and the orders.

·         To enter orders into the system and inform the chef/barman.

·         To prepare service trays with sauces, napkins and cutlery.

·         To print the bills for the order and bring the card machine for card orders or appropriate change for cash payments.

·         To ask reception if there are any meetings taking place in the meeting rooms once the shift is started.

·         To set-up the meeting rooms in the appropriate style for the right amount of people.

·         To provide tea/coffee to the meeting room depending on the meeting requirements.

·         To ensure that the corridors are kept clear at all times.

·         When housekeeping cleans the rooms, they will leave bottles, plates and other items on the corridors. The Butler must walk through each corridor and collect these items. Walking through the corridors to find items like this must be done multiple times throughout the day.

·         To perform basic management tasks, such as resetting electrical switch boxes, operating A/C units, unclogging sinks, showers, toilets, and opening safes.

·         To support other departments during busy periods, such as waiting tables, making coffees, creating room keys behind reception, and assisting the accommodation team.

·         To gather and polish wine glasses, cheese plates and wine bottles from the Cookhouse and bring them to the 7th floor lounge. The butler would remain in the lounge and serve guests glasses of wine.

·         To deliver items like champagne or birthday plates in the rooms when the guest pays for exclusive packages.

·         To ensure time management between housekeeping and reception.

·         To ensure that the lounge is stocked up with coffee, milk, water, sugar, biscuits, glasses and cups.

·         To ensure that the lounge area is kept clean and tidy.

·         To keep the front of the hotel clean, including removing rubbish, wiping down window sills, sweeping the Parlor smoking area, and cleaning ashtrays.

·         To ensure the gym is neat and tidy and that equipment is stored safely.

·         To stay in constant contact with reception.

·         To avoid idleness; proactively address pending tasks or assist other departments

·         To use quiet periods effectively by being available to assist other departments whilst remaining prepared to go back to their primary roles at any time.

·         To gain exposure to various hotel departments and operations.

·         To develop guest communication skills and understanding of hotel facilities.

·         To build a foundation for advancement within the company.
