Description

Copain is part of Noble Food and Pursuits, a chef driven hospitality group in the Carolinas. Our bakery and café is built around craft, consistency, and warm hospitality, from breads and pastries to coffee and prepared foods. At Copain Ballantyne, we bring that same standard into a full service setting while also supporting a strong retail and grab and go program.

We are looking for a Prep Cook / Line Cook to support both daily production and service execution. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who enjoys early mornings, stays organized, and can move between prep and line responsibilities with consistency and urgency. You will work closely with the Chef and kitchen team to help ensure guests can count on fresh, high quality food across restaurant, café, and retail offerings.

What You Will Do

  • Execute early morning prep for the day’s service, including sauces, dressings, proteins, vegetables, and other key components
  • Support line cooking during service as needed, helping with station setup, execution, and plating
  • Prepare, cook, and portion hot and cold items for full service dining, café service, grab and go, and retail prepared foods
  • Follow recipes, prep lists, and production standards to maintain consistency in flavor, texture, and presentation
  • Assist with specialty menus, seasonal features, and holiday items as directed by the Chef
  • Help maintain proper product rotation using first in first out practices and ensure all items are labeled, dated, and stored correctly
  • Monitor prep levels and communicate any shortages, product quality concerns, or par issues to the Chef in a timely manner
  • Help with daily and weekly inventory counts for prepared foods, proteins, produce, and other key ingredients
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and service ready workstation, including prep areas, line stations, coolers, and storage spaces
  • Support the team wherever needed to keep production and service running smoothly

What You Will Bring

  • Previous prep cook and/or line cook experience in a scratch kitchen preferred
  • Strong knife skills and comfort with both volume prep and service execution
  • Ability to move between prep responsibilities and line support with focus, speed, and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow recipes, written prep lists, and direction from the Chef with consistency
  • Strong habits around cleanliness, organization, and food safety
  • Dependable and punctual, with the ability to work a consistent early morning schedule starting at 5:00 AM
  • Passion for food, a strong work ethic, and a team first mindset

Why Join Us

  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Benefits available for full time team members
  • Opportunities to learn and grow within Copain and Noble Food and Pursuits
  • Employee dining discounts at Copain and other Noble Food and Pursuits concepts
