Head of Food – Young’s Pubs - London & South of England

Are you a strategic, innovative leader ready to shape the future of food for one of the UK’s leading premium pub companies?

We are seeking a passionate & creative Head of Food to lead and evolve our fresh food offer across our 280 outstanding pubs. Our food strategy is simple – Premium, British and Seasonal. This is a unique opportunity to take the reins of food strategy, innovation and chef development for a company passionate about quality, seasonal ingredients, and delivering an outstanding experience.

Young’s Pub's and rooms are at the heart of our local communities, with more than 280 pubs predominantly within London and the South of England. Each individual and differentiated in style and offering, from traditional pubs steeped in history to secret underground cocktail bars, the character and individuality of each of our businesses is what makes Young’s unique.

Our food offer is 100% freshly produced in house and led by the British seasons. We’re all about premium pub food with individual menus to fit the vision of each of our pubs, each aligned with the over-arching food Young’s food strategy.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Development and execution of our industry leading, seasonal food offer
  • Lead and inspire a team of 4 Divisional Executive Chefs, and over 280 Head Chefs
  • Delivering budgeted GPs through the right menus, supply chain and processes.
  • Managing procurement and supply chain to source the best seasonal and sustainable ingredients whilst mitigating inflation.
  • Innovate and evolve the food offering to ensure Young’s stays relevant and best-in-class.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
  • Inspire, coach, develop and succession plan for our kitchen teams across the business.
  • Managing the chef development pathway and kitchen apprenticeships.
  • Responsible for Health & Safety; ensuring all teams are trained and every kitchen in the business meets EHO standards.


About you:

  • Commercially astute with the ability to balance creativity and profitability.
  • Proven performance showing food sales growth and strong GPs in a similar role
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrate team development and succession
  • A passion for British seasonal produce, food trends & best in class premium pub food
  • Can lead and inspire a team articulating clear & confident messages
  • Expert knowledge in Health and safety meeting EHO standards
  • Experience in managing a fresh, seasonal supply chain is preferable.
