Job: Housekeeping Manager at Cowley Manor

Based in: Cowley, Cheltenham

Reports to: General Manager

We are looking for a Housekeeping Manager to join our dynamic team! With a keen eye for detail, you will be responsible for the upkeep of our rooms and public areas. With guest satisfaction in mind, your primary responsibilities will include management and training of our housekeeping team, managing inventory and budgets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product quality:

  • Manage and lead the housekeeping team to deliver a high quality service to our guests, ensure the maintenance and cleaning of the rooms.
  • Working with other Heads of Departments, plan for and ensure of the cleaning of all public areas, restrooms, F&B outlets, the spa and back of house areas.
  • Monitor and inspect daily the bedrooms and public areas, ensuring the standards are met.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards within the Housekeeping department, maintaining a safe environment for both staff and guests.

Team management:

  • Recruit, train and mentor the Housekeeping team, creating a positive work environment.
  • Plan the weekly rota for the Housekeeping team and manage employees’ holidays.
  • Manage and communicate the guest satisfaction results to the Housekeeping team.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members to promote personal development and improve team performance.
  • Encourage a culture of efficient and effective working practices to increase employee productivity.

Maintenance:

  • Work closely with the Maintenance team, addressing maintenance shortfalls immediately, and plan for preventative works.
  • Ensure that housekeeping equipment is well-maintained and operational, arranging for repairs or replacements as necessary.

Inventory control:

  • Process, order and maintain supplies and inventories for amenities, cleaning supplies and linen, and ensure stock takes are done monthly.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring timely delivery of quality products at competitive prices.

Other responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of large-scale events or special guest requests that require additional housekeeping resources or service
  • Ensure effective and positive cross departmental communicatio
  • Occasional coverage of Duty Manager shifts to support the wider hotel operation

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience in a similar role within a comparable venue.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Be well spoken with excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to details and customer needs.
  • Social, engaging, and motivated.
  • Flexibility to respond quickly and positively to a range of work situations.
  • Knowledge as well as abilities in other languages would be beneficial.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
