40 hours a week over 5 days, with flexibility to work weekends. Part-time hours considered.

Our Kitchen Porter
We are looking for a reliable and dedicated Kitchen Porter to support our production team at The Newt in Somerset’s Avalon Farm kitchen. This role is essential to ensuring a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, supporting chefs and production staff as they prepare and package high-quality, estate-grown ingredients. Working within our state-of-the-art facility, you will contribute to our commitment to quality, hygiene, and safety in every step of our production process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen areas, including workstations, utensils, and equipment.
  • Support production staff by ensuring ingredients, tools, and materials are readily available.
  • Assist with general food preparation tasks as needed under the direction of senior team members.
  • Follow strict hygiene and health and safety standards, including regular cleaning of floors, surfaces, and waste areas.
  • Handle deliveries and storage of goods, ensuring inventory is properly managed and items are stored safely.
  • Operate dishwashing and sanitising equipment to ensure all kitchenware is cleaned and stored appropriately.
  • Help with recycling and waste management, ensuring disposal is handled in accordance with environmental policies.

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in a kitchen porter or similar role is beneficial but not essential; full training will be provided.
  • Strong understanding of hygiene and safety practices, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
  • A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well under supervision.

As a Kitchen Porter, you’ll be working in a modern, dynamic kitchen, supporting the team to deliver exceptional ready-to-eat and retail products for The Newt’s customers.
