Assistant Merchandiser - Wholesale

Purpose of the role

To plan, trade, purchase, and control Wholesale prime, subprime and outlet stock to deliver sales, margin, markdown, cover, and terminal stock budgets.

Responsibilities:

Planning: -

  • Seasonal planning of forward order buys, stock, markdown, margin, cover and OTB, using historical data and forecasting skills...

  • Ensure balanced and commercial ranges are developed which are in line with agreed financial parameters.
  • Set plans at option, store, and departmental level.
  • Manage seasonal range plans, propose intake volumes and phasing.

Trading:-

  • Trade the department to deliver sales, margin, mark down, cover and terminal stock budgets.
  • Manage the OTB and reforecast WSSI’S.
  • Produce weekly analysis, review with team and present to trading meeting.
  • Produce monthly review information and propose trading actions.
  • Ensure intake process runs smoothly and stock meets sales budgets.
  • Ensure correct amount of terminal stock is available for outlet stores and wholesale sale buys.
  • Manage the merchandising action required for new store openings for outlets side of the business.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance, sizing, price, continuity lines etc.
  • Produce stock offers to then sell to partners.

Other :-

  • Liaise with different areas of the business.
  • Ability to influence decisions makers with the business. 

Key Skills and Experience

Essential –

  • Prior experience of working at Merchandiser or Assistant Merchandiser level. 

    Must have held responsibility for planning and trading own department.
  • Can display sound commercial judgement and experienced in making profit related decisions.
  • Has a flair for spotting opportunities whilst managing risk to stock, sales, and profit.
  • Needs strong people management skills.
  • Ability to manage heavy workload and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Able to work both independently and within a small team.
  • Strong interest in fashion/retail industry.
  • Be flexible, enthusiastic, confident, and proactive.
  • Experience in trading both online and wholesale concessions.

Desirable –

  • Experienced in multi-channel retailing.
  • Self-starter – able to cope with complex retail reporting system.
  • Enjoy working in a small/medium sized company.
  • Advanced excel skills..
