Jang is looking for an exceptional Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team at our vibrant restaurant, located in the Mezzanine of the iconic Royal Exchange.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, hands-on Sous Chef to play a key role in shaping our food offering, supporting the Head Chef, and driving high standards in a fast-paced, collaborative kitchen environment.
Full-time position
Salary: up to £45,000 per annum
48-hour contract
The Role
As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to oversee the daily running of the kitchen. This is a leadership-focused, hands-on role, ensuring consistency, quality, and smooth service across all sections while supporting and developing the kitchen brigade.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous in a high-quality restaurant
Strong cooking and presentation skills with great attention to detail
A passion for delivering consistently high standards
Solid knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP
Excellent communication, organisation, and time-management skills
A proactive, motivated team player with a positive, can-do attitude
Knowledge of Korean and Japanese cuisine is a bonus
Legal right to work in the UK
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef in managing all aspects of kitchen operations
Lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef
Ensure consistent food quality, timing, and presentation across all sections
Supervise daily food preparation and service
Assist with menu development, execution, and quality control
Train, mentor, and develop Chef de Parties and junior kitchen team members
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety
Foster a positive, professional, and motivated kitchen culture
