Position Summary

A Raw Bar Cook is responsible for preparing and serving seafood dishes, especially those that are raw or partially cooked, such as oysters, clams, shrimp and sushi. They will manage the raw bar station, ensuring that food is prepared to the highest standard, with the right ingredients and presentation. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare seafood ingredients and ensure they are fresh & ready for cooking.

  • Manage the raw bar station, ensuring it is clean and well-maintained.

  • Follow recipes and prepare dishes according to the menu.

  • Slice and prepare other raw seafood ingredients.

  • Ensure that the kitchen is well-stocked with seafood ingredients and supplies.

  • Be knowledgeable about all seafood ingredients used in the dishes.

  • Portrays a positive and professional attitude and appearance.

  • Understands the policies and procedures of the organization and adheres to the company standards outlined in the company handbook.

  • Work with other kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.

  • Possesses conversational knowledge of food and beverage items served at the establishment.

  • Participates in training sessions, departmental meetings, or pre-shift meetings.

  • Ensures the well-being of all guests and co-workers by following the Company Safety Standards and maintaining compliance with the Department of Health and OSHAA.

  • Other duties as assigned. 


Our Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role. 

  • High school degree or equivalent.

  • Demonstrates effective oral & written communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Possesses excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and time management ability.

  • Actively contributes as a team player by supporting co-workers throughout each workday.

  • Has a solid understanding of the job duties assigned to them and outlined in their job description.

  • Alerts management of all safety concerns immediately.


Certifications Required

  • Food Handling Safety certification.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to bend and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion.

  • Role may include exposure to hot kitchen elements or cleaning materials.

  • Must be able to work and remain focused in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with varying shifts days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work overtime as required/needed.
