Job Title:                                   In Room Dining Team Member

 

Department:                           Food & Beverage

 

Responsible To:                      Restaurant Manager

 

Type of Contract:                   Seasonal - Fixed

 

Main Purpose of Job:             To provide a friendly and efficient service within the dining and any other food service areas, dispensing both food and beverage order accurately, with courtesy to the standard required according to legislation and the internal standards set out by Trump International Doonbeg.

 

Liaises with:                            Culinary Department, Stewarding, Front Desk, Managers on Duty

 

MAIN DUTIES

 

  • Arrives to work on time, appropriately groomed and in the correct uniform.
  • Prepares tables to the appropriate standard with linen, silverware, glasses, flatware and refills condiments.
  • Maintains familiarity with all menu items, specials, and restaurant information.
  • Meets with Manager, Serving staff and Chef regularly in order to learn about menu changes and specials in addition to discussion on upcoming reservations, special events and guests with special needs.
  • Assists host or hostess by answering phones to take reservations and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
  • Welcomes and escorts guests to their table as they arrive at a restaurant.
  • Introduces guests to the menu and announces daily or seasonal menu specials and responds to any questions regarding menu items, ingredients, and allergens.
  • Describes and recommend wines to the guest and responds to any questions.
  • Explains how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Takes note of guests’ orders and via the POS (point of sale) system accurately conveys the order to culinary staff for preparation.
  • Brings wine selection to the table with the appropriate glasses, opens and pours for the guest.
  • Collects food orders, verifies that they are accurate, and serves them to the guest.
  • Ensures that the guests are satisfied with their meal and processes orders for additional courses as necessary.
  • Consistently adheres to the five-star standard of service.
  • Provides guests with any information they require on the property or the local area, including providing directions.
  • Removes used dishes, glasses, and flatware from tables.
  • Prepares cheques and delivers them to customers.
  • Processes cash and credit card payments and returns change to customers.
  • Perform cleaning duties including sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpets and rugs, tidying service station, dusting and polishing brass and silverware.
  • Addresses any customer concerns in a professional manner and notifies management of same.
  • Delivers careful monitoring ensuring that no person under the age of 18 is served alcoholic beverages and adherence to tobacco regulations.
  • Ensures that all guest requests are responded to immediately.
  • Set up for service for next shift.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, staff may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel which can include day, evening or weekend shifts.
  • Participates in training programmes as required.

QUALIFYING CRITERIA

 

  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Previous food and beverage experience an advantage.
  • Knowledge & experience of five-star hospitality an advantage.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer focused.
  • Operates to a very high-quality standard.
  • Positive, can do attitude.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to remain calm whilst under pressure. 
  • Must be over 18 years of age due to service of alcohol.
  • Additional languages an advantage.
