Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel is seeking a motivated, service-driven Accounting Generalist. A one-of-a-kind historic retrofit, our 148-room property located in the heart of Los Angeles features interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, multiple dining options by the James Beard Award-winning Lucques Group duo, a panoramic rooftop restaurant-bar & lounge featuring a swimming pool and 14,000 square feet of meeting and event space.


The Accounting Generalist will perform activities to support the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll & General Accounting functions. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • General accounting functions in areas of need within the Finance Department, including payroll
  • Assist in handling customer and vendor inquiries in a timely efficient manner, including but not limited to researching and resolving customer issues as well as vendor requests
  • Assist with reconciling vendor statements and solving discrepancies
  • Daily cash over short reconciliation, reporting and follow-up
  • Maintain Vendor Insurance Certificate of Insurance file
  • Perform Birch Street invoice reconciliation as needed
  • Accounts Payable module processing of vendor payments as needed.
  • Perform Daily Income Audit and posting of daily journals and adjustments as needed
  • Accounts receivable billing and payment posting as needed

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Previous hotel accounting experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheets, both building and maintaining
  • Good time management skills
  • Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms
  • Preferably 1-2 years Finance Department experience specifically in a hotel or, alternatively, Finance Department experience outside of Hospitality or Hotel Front Office experience is also preferred
