Join the Honesty Family — Farm Chef

Who We Are

At Honesty Group, we believe in doing things properly — simple food, made well, with ingredients we trust.

Dummer Down Farm is a unique part of our business: a working farm and café where people come to slow down, eat well, and enjoy the countryside. We welcome walkers, cyclists, families, and regulars looking for fresh, honest food in a relaxed setting.

Everything we serve is made by hand, using high-quality, seasonal ingredients wherever possible. No shortcuts — just real food, done well.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

We put people first — both our teams and our guests.

This is a kitchen where quality matters, but so does balance. With a structured 30-hour week across four days, this role offers a strong work-life balance while still being part of a busy, rewarding kitchen environment.

You’ll be part of a small, supportive team where your contribution is valued and visible every day.

What You’ll Do

As our Farm Chef, you’ll play a key role in delivering fresh, seasonal food to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and cooking dishes across breakfast and lunch service
  • Managing your section during busy service periods
  • Supporting prep, stock rotation, and waste control
  • Ensuring food safety, hygiene, and kitchen standards are maintained at all times
  • Keeping the kitchen clean, organised, and running efficiently
  • Working closely with front-of-house to ensure a smooth, friendly service
  • Supporting deliveries and maintaining stock organisation
  • Contributing ideas to help evolve and improve the menu

This is a hands-on role where consistency, care, and attention to detail matter.

Who You Are

  • You care about good food and take pride in what you produce
  • You’re organised, reliable, and calm under pressure
  • You enjoy working as part of a small, close-knit team
  • You take ownership of your work and maintain high standards
  • You bring a positive, can-do attitude to the kitchen

You may be a Chef, Commis Chef, or an experienced Kitchen Assistant ready to step up.

Working Pattern

This is a part-time role, 30 hours per week, working across:

• Monday
• Tuesday
• Friday
• Saturday

This structure provides consistency while allowing for a balanced working week.

What You’ll Get from Us

  • A structured 4-day working week (30 hours)
  • Daytime-focused service (no late nights)
  • Free meal on duty
  • 20% discount across Honesty products
  • Discounted courses at our Cookery School
  • A supportive, people-first working environment

Your Future Here

There’s no fixed ceiling.

Within Honesty, you could progress into:

  • Senior Chef / Sous Chef
  • Head Chef roles across the group
  • Production kitchen roles
  • Training or development roles

We believe in growing our people and promoting from within.

Safety & Inclusivity

We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome and respected.

We are age-inclusive, disability confident, and proud to build diverse teams.
