Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced, service-oriented Bar Manager to lead the bar operations at our Experience Zuzu Detroit location. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a high-volume, fast-paced bar environment and elevate the guest experience through excellent service, team development, and creative beverage programming.
What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)
Bar Operations & Leadership
Oversee all aspects of daily bar operations, including staff management, product ordering, inventory, and service standards.
Lead, schedule, and supervise bartenders, barbacks, and support staff to ensure an efficient and high-energy environment.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety standards behind the bar at all times.
Ensure the bar is fully stocked and operational before each shift and during service.
Develop and enforce bar SOPs, drink recipes, and pouring standards to ensure consistency.
Guest Experience
Drive a welcoming, high-quality guest experience through speed, accuracy, and hospitality.
Engage with guests, manage VIP experiences, and address concerns or special requests promptly and professionally.
Collaborate with front-of-house leadership to ensure a seamless service between bar and dining.
Beverage Program & Promotion
Partner with leadership and suppliers to develop seasonal cocktail menus and signature drink offerings.
Identify trends and curate a compelling beverage selection, including spirits, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic offerings.
Support the planning and execution of bar-related events, tastings, and promotions to drive traffic and revenue.
Team Development
Hire, train, and mentor bartending staff with a focus on product knowledge, customer service, and efficiency.
Provide ongoing coaching, recognition, and performance feedback.
Foster a positive team culture rooted in respect, professionalism, and growth.
Business & Financial Management
Monitor bar sales, track KPIs, and identify opportunities to drive revenue and increase profitability.
Maintain tight control over inventory, waste, and pour costs through consistent systems and audits.
Ensure compliance with responsible alcohol service laws and company policies.
Manage cash handling, tip-outs, and POS reporting.
