The Aurora Catering group is looking for a professional, hard-working line cook to join our team at Emporio, a fast paced Italian restaurant with a focus on locally sourcing seasonal produce, sustainable seafood and responsibly raised meats. This opportunity has tremendous potential for new responsibilities and challenges within our growing restaurant group.
The ideal candidates possess:
- 2-3 years experience as a line cook in New York City
- Knowledge of Italian cuisine and the ability to master all line cooking stations
- A professional and considerate approach to teamwork
- Outstanding cleanliness and organization habits
- Food Handlers certificate issued by New York City DOHMH
- Open availability
- Must possess a high level of maturity, reliability and punctuality.
- Working knowledge of Spanish.
Responsibilities
Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
Clean up station and take care of leftover food
Stock inventory appropriately
Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
