The Role

Encore Care Home’s Learning & Development Facilitator play’s a key part in ensuring the continued delivery of Good, high-quality care. Ensuring every member of staff is confident and competent in their ability to work in a person-centred manner, in accordance with Encore’s Values.


The Learning and Development Facilitator at Encore provides induction and development training to four Care Homes across Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Hampshire. As one of the initial points of contact between Encore and a new member of staff, you should demonstrate passion for the role and the Encore Values. This varied position will provide the opportunity to witness the skilled progression of staff from their first day, throughout their Encore career.


This is a home-based position that will involve travel to the four Care Homes.

ESSENTIAL

  • The City & Guilds Introduction to Trainer Skills (or equivalent)
  • Assessor qualification (A1/A2 or equivalent)
  • Diploma level 3 in Health & Social Care or experience of working in social care sector
  • Working knowledge of legislative requirements in Health & Social Care sector
  • 2 years training experience
  • Excellent IT literacy, including Excel and Word
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Be based within the Homes; arrange induction paperwork and ensure a ‘buddy’ is allocated in advance of new employees starting with Encore
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with Care Home Managers, Deputy Managers and Home Support Assistants, who all play a key role in the learning and development of staff.
  • Ensure that the Management of the Homes lead and direct the support and input required of the Learning and Development Facilitator
  • Ensure that the overall accountability of Learning and Development compliance remains with the Management of the Home
  • Escalate concerns of non-compliance regarding training compliance to the Learning & Development Manager, supporting the development of a constructive action plan to achieve the minimum expected training compliance across each Home
  • Work with Home Managers to support the implementation of individual personal development plans
  • Coordination and delivery of training against Encore objectives and mandatory training requirements
  • Coordination and delivery of Induction, including monitoring and completing Induction work based observed competencies
  • Maintain regular contact with the New Starters in accordance with Encore’s Induction Book schedule requirements and ensure these workbooks are completed in full by 12 weeks of employment
  • Provide practical, hands-on training, including workshops, across a variety of subjects
  • Completion of competency assessments using observed practice and questioning of staff members to ensure they are confident in their roles 
  • Plan, schedule and publish training calendars 12 months in advance
  • Ensure employee training files are up to date
  • Maintain regular contact with new team members, coaching and supporting where appropriate
  • Attend meetings and conferences external to the Homes where required
  • Promote Learning and Development opportunities that Encore offer
  • Ensure that Encore’s ‘essential’ mandatory subjects of Infection Control (IPC), Moving and Positioning (practical), Fire Awareness, Safeguarding Adults, Basic Life Support and Medicines Management (when relevant to the staff members role) are at 100% across the Homes. With other Mandatory training achieving 95% compliance overall, at all times
  • Produce weekly compliance reports of training statistics, ensuring these are provided in clear and concise formats. Focusing on visual dashboards and trends analysis, celebrating success and escalating concerns of non-compliance to the Head of Quality and Operations Manager immediately
  • Low level additional administrative support, as required, to support tracking of minutes and key actions at senior management meetings
  • Ensure you uphold and demonstrate the Encore Values in your work approach and ethic: Be Creative, Spontaneous, Joyful and emanate being part of the Encore family
  • Attend external training as required to maintain and update training skills and competencies
