JOB TITLE: Franchise Business Consultant                 

REPORTS TO: VP of Brand and Franchise Development                           

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt  

DEPARTMENT: Operations                                                                            

LEVEL: Management

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Franchise Business Consultant will maintain effective working relationships and visitation schedule with franchisees.  The FBC is the primary liaison between franchisees and the corporate support center. Understands all facets of the business in order to identify opportunities of improvement for growth.  Identify and share with other franchisees the successes and problem-solving techniques the Operations Department and/or other franchisees have developed.  Ensure the franchisees are compliant to their franchise agreement and the Standard Operating Procedures Manual.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a clear understanding of the current Franchise Agreements.
  • Works with franchisee to develop effective business building strategies.
  • Remain updated and ensure current knowledge of the SOP Manual.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of all operational procedures and standards.
  • Assist franchisees with the creation of an operations budget (training franchisees how to make projections in sales and expenses).
  • Monitor performance metrics. Recognize and coach regularly on performance to metrics.
  • Prepare and present quarterly P&L reviews for your respective area.
  • Conduct quarterly franchise group meetings.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with multi-unit franchisees at minimum.
  • Participate in monthly operations team meetings.
  • Ensure all necessary Farmburgerology modules are completed as needed.
  • Ensure that franchisees are following the management certification process.
  • Deliver and distribute information to franchisees and collect Farmer Boys restaurant data.
  • Inform superiors, peers and subordinates of all changes, opportunities, and other relevant information regarding the operation of each franchise unit.
  • Communicate sales promotions and best practices to the Franchise community.
  • Maintain proper and complete Franchisee files with all necessary documentation.
  • Complete High Impact Restaurant Visit for each store a minimum of one every six weeks. Included in this visit is a documented 
  • One on One with the General Manager, and the franchisee or multi-unit manager when possible.
  • Have a positive working relationship with all franchisees, their managers and employees, FB partners and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be detail oriented and disciplined to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be disciplined and focused on the pursuit of excellence.
  • Must understand and achieve company vision, mission, and goals.
  • Must have effective people skills: diplomatic, relationship oriented, effective communicator, including listening skills, accepting coaching and feedback, etc.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and be an effective leader.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions and provide information in a timely manner.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Graduate, 2-year and/or 4-year college degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years as a company and/or Franchise Manager in food or retail, preferably in restaurant, or combination thereof.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Full-time position: the position may require weekends and evening work.
  • This is an operations department job, primarily office and franchisee and/or restaurant manager contact.
  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting and walking (up to 8 hours at time); bending and stooping.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to withstand intermittent kitchen heat and/or cold while testing food temperatures. 
  • Ability to periodically climb ladder and verify completion of maintenance on roof.
  • Ability to travel for up to 25-50% outside of LA/OC/Riverside Metro area. Overnight travel may be required, as needed.
