REPORTS TO: Vice President of Restaurant Operations

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Turn data into insights that improve restaurant performance. Farmer Boys is seeking a curious, business-minded analyst with early-career experience using data to solve real business problems. This role goes beyond reporting what happened—you will investigate why it happened, what is driving it, and what actions could improve the outcome.
You will work across the
business to identify patterns and performance gaps, test hypotheses, and
translate data into practical recommendations that help leaders make better
decisions.
You will build-on an established
data foundation including Microsoft Azure Cloud, Databricks, Power BI,
star-schema data models, and web-based applications.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Success is not measured by the number of reports produced. It is measured by the quality of the insights uncovered and the business improvements they help create.
You will help Farmer Boys better understand what drives restaurant performance, identify opportunities that may not be obvious from standard reporting, reduce manual analysis, and help leaders make better decisions with data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with Operations, Finance, and other teams to analyze sales, labor, food costs, waste, speed of service, guest experience, and other business questions.
- Analyze and connect data from multiple sources to identify trends, relationships, anomalies, and the underlying drivers of restaurant performance.
- Develop and test hypotheses independently, digging deeper when the initial analysis does not fully explain the result moving beyond what happened to what actions could help to improve.
- Compare restaurants, markets, products, dayparts, and operating conditions to identify opportunities and best practices.
- Translate complex analysis into clear insights and practical recommendations for business leaders.
- Measure whether operational changes and initiatives produce the intended results.
- Use company-approved AI tools, including Claude Code, Claude Cowork, and OpenAI Codex, to accelerate analysis, pattern discovery, and workflow automation.
- Automate repetitive reporting and analysis and build visualizations or lightweight tools that make insights easier to access and act on.
- Validate data and AI-assisted findings and follow company data-security standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience using data to investigate business questions, identify insights, and support decisions—not simply producing reports.
- Strong curiosity and analytical thinking, you naturally want to understand why things are changing and what is driving the result.
- Working SQL skills, including querying, joining, filtering, aggregating, and exploring data across multiple datasets. Python experience is preferred.
- Experience creating visualizations and communicating analytical findings to business stakeholders.
- Ability to explain what findings mean, why they matter, and what action it may suggest.
- A degree in analytics, data science, computer science, business, economics, statistics, or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience is welcome.
- Restaurant or QSR experience is a plus, not required. Experience with Azure, Databricks, Power BI, or dimensional data models is helpful.
- Proficient
with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 0–3 years of experience in data analytics, business analytics, operations analytics, business intelligence, or a related role.
- Degree
in Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics preferred.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Full-time position: the position may require weekends and evening work.
- This is an operations department job, primarily office and franchisee and/or restaurant manager contact.
- Physical requirements include standing, sitting and walking (up to 8 hours at time); bending and stooping.
