Overview
As Assistant Manager, you’ll support the General Manager to deliver excellent, consistent service and smooth day-to-day operations. You’ll act as a role model for the team, support training and development, and help maintain brand and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support GM in the daily running of the pub and lead in their absence
• Deliver consistent customer service and ensure high standards across the venue
• Coach, train and develop the team; run inductions and support performance reviews
• Manage rotas, support recruitment and ensure on-shift cover
• Oversee cash handling, till reconciliation and basic stock control
• Uphold licensing, health & safety and food‑hygiene standards
• Assist with local events and community activities to drive trade

Person specification — essential

• Management or supervisory experience in pubs, bars or casual dining
• Strong people skills and a role-model approach to leadership
• Reliable, adaptable and able to think on your feet during busy shifts
• Commitment to delivering consistently high standards for customers and teams
• Right to work in the UK; available for evenings and weekends

Desirable

• Experience in community pubs or casual dining
• Basic food-safety qualification or willingness to obtain
• Familiarity with EPOS systems
