This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small, focused team (2 Baristas + Supervisor), takes ownership of their section, and confidently acts as the key link between the café, our trading partner (Market Hall), and the Head Office team.

You will lead the barista section by example, uphold specialty coffee standards, manage stock and reporting systems, and ensure seamless daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Coffee Leadership & Standards

  • Deliver consistently exceptional specialty coffee to Farm Girl standards.
  • Dial in espresso daily and maintain extraction quality throughout service.
  • Train and coach baristas to maintain high technical and service standards.
  • Monitor workflow efficiency during peak and quieter periods.
  • Maintain coffee equipment to the highest standard and report issues immediately.

2. Team Supervision

  • Lead a small barista team with energy, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Support team development through coaching and feedback.
  • Maintain a calm, solutions-focused approach during busy services.
  • Act as a role model for customer engagement and hospitality excellence.

3. Stock & Systems Management

  • Take ownership of the barista section stock count.
  • Conduct regular stocktakes and input data accurately into company systems.
  • Monitor wastage and identify opportunities to reduce loss.
  • Ensure correct stock rotation and ordering levels are maintained.
  • Confidently use POS and back-office systems to manage reporting and inventory.

4. Communication & Operational Liaison

  • Act as the point of contact for our trading partner (Market Hall) regarding operational matters.
  • Liaise directly with the Head Office team on stock, reporting, and operational updates.
  • Communicate equipment faults, stock shortages, or team concerns clearly and promptly.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between FOH and Barista operations.

5. Service & Guest Experience

  • Maintain exceptional customer service standards at all times.
  • Engage guests with knowledge and enthusiasm about our coffee offering.
  • Support upselling and contribute to sales growth within the café.

Role Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a senior barista or supervisor in a specialty coffee environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of espresso extraction, milk texturing, and coffee calibration.
  • Experience dialling in and maintaining consistency in high-volume settings.
  • Previous stock management and stocktaking experience.
  • Confident using POS systems and digital stock/inventory platforms.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (spoken and written English).
  • Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented.
  • Comfortable being the operational link between café, trading partner, and head office.

What We Offer

  • 50% staff discount at all Farm Girl cafés.
  • 20 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays (pro rata).
  • Meal and hot drinks provided on shift.
  • “Bring-a-friend” referral scheme.
