Role Responsibilities
As our Assistant Manager, you'll be instrumental in the day-to-day operations and overall success of our café. Your responsibilities will include:
Leading by Example: Maintain an enthusiastic, engaged, and passionate approach to food and excellent service, setting a positive example for the team and fostering a great working atmosphere, even under pressure.
Floor Management: Oversee the daily running of the cafe and effectively manage the front-of-house operations.
Staff Training & Development: Support in training all staff to the highest standards, with a particular focus on:
Exceptional Customer Service Standards
Comprehensive menu knowledge
Full understanding of allergens
Adherence to Health & Safety protocols
Team Collaboration: Emphasise the importance of teamwork and encourage initiative among Front of House staff.
Sales Growth: Drive the team to increase upselling and maximize revenue.
Cleanliness Standards: Ensure the café consistently maintains the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene.
Equipment Maintenance: Proactively maintain all equipment (iPod, iPad, Fridges, coffee machine, etc.) and promptly report any breakages.
Operational Efficiency: Identify and suggest process improvements for better workflow during both busy and quiet periods.
Stock Management: Monitor and record all wastage and ensure proper stock rotation.
General Manager Cover: Confidently step in for the General Manager during their absence (days off/annual leave), taking on responsibilities such as:
Ordering from suppliers and ensuring FOH/BOH stock is replenished and maintained.
Organizing rotas for FOH and Barista teams.
Stocktaking, cashing up, and filing expenditure.
Managing Deliveroo/Uber Eats (ensuring stock is updated on devices and monitoring activity).
Role Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
A proactive ‘Can-do’ Attitude.
2 years of experience in a similar Assistant Manager role.
Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
Barista skills (preferred).
Experience working in a high-volume environment.
Great spoken and written English communication skills.
