Freight Island crafts, curates and operates distinct mutli-use venues built around atmosphere, community and immersive guest experiences. Across our spaces we bring together world class food vendors, unique and craft beverage concepts, live performances and a curated events programme to redefine how people gather, eat, drink and socialise. Transforming from daytime community hubs to electrifying night time experiences and flexing seamlessly from corporate private hires to unforgettable, headliner DJ’s, Freight offers a space for everyone, no matter the occasion. Joining Freight Island means stepping into an extremely fast paced, creative environment where high operational standards drive unforgettable guest experiences at scale.
Pushing the boundaries of modern venue space, our Newcastle location is Freight’s biggest footprint… yet. Set beneath a dramatic retractable glass roof and boasting a spacious terrace, this massive rooftop space blends high energy food market culture and social drinking with Pyr, an elevated live fire dining experience. In the heart of the city, and with more to come, Freight Island will become home to Crux, a 1200 capacity music venue set to open it doors in early 2027.
Floor Tender
Our Floor Tenders play an essential part in our guest’s journey—delivering food and drinks, keeping service running smoothly, ensuring tables look amazing, and creating a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere for the ultimate Freight Island experience. Operating as a full-service delivery team (without the need to take guest orders), you will report to the Floor Supervisors & Duty Managers on shift and be allocated sections of the venue to maintain and host throughout your shift.
You MUST have weekend availability to be considered.

Venue Preparation: Setting up the venue prior to opening, ensuring booked tables are clean, correctly aligned, and fully set
Section & Table Maintenance: Clearing empty glasses, finished plates, and rubbish promptly; wiping and resetting tables between bookings
Guest Queries & Service: Handling guest requests effectively, resolving minor issues on the spot, or connecting guests with management when required
Safety & Standards: Upholding licensing laws, Challenge 25 policies, Health & Safety guidelines, and venue security protocols
Teamwork & Back of House: Supporting team members across the site, assisting in back-of-house areas, helping with private events, and participating in shift setup and teardown
Site Hygiene: Keeping floors, guest spaces, and staff areas tidy, changing bins, and managing physical upkeep
