Purpose of the role
The Group Finance Manager will provide robust financial oversight and strategic support across the group, ensuring accurate reporting, effective controls, and informed decision-making to drive sustainable growth. You will partner with business units and central functions, leading group-wide financial planning, analysis, and reporting to achieve financial targets and optimize performance.
The Group Finance Manager is a mix of strategy and operational delivery. The successful candidate will be comfortable setting future strategy whilst engaging in daily finance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee the daily operations of the finance team, including task delegation, workflow management, and ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards in completed work.
Coach, lead and mentor the team to empower them day-to-day and help their growth & development in Lamington Group
Enhance team efficiency and stability by creating, documenting, and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all key finance processes and promoting a culture of continuous improvement
Proactively manage team resources, ensuring adequate coverage for all operational finance functions and minimizing disruptions
Partnering with GMs to support on a daily basis in order meet the financial objectives. Labour targets, COGS and EBITDA targets
Foster a high performing, motivated finance team that’s aligned with the company’s mission and values.
Deputise for the Head of Finance
Management accounts – Ensuring complete month end and year end closing for all entities.
Draft P&L and full BS reconciliation reviews with HoF WD+3
Cascading Management Accounts to GMs with detailed nominal listing by WD+4
Ensuring BS reconciliations are fully supported with backups and all variance explained, taking corrective action and adjusting entries in the following month.
Management of Intercompany reconciliations ensuring they are balanced monthly
Review and chair monthly P&L meetings to understand variances, performance and exceptional items to note with GMS and department heads
Fortnightly Debtor meetings
Monthly Credit meetings
Ownership of the financial forecasts for operational business to guide strategic decision making and ensure sustainable growth
Ownership of Cashflow process
Join the annual budgeting process in conjunction with GMs and other department heads, ensuring alignment with the brand’s strategic goals and the groups financial framework
Assisting in financial audit
Systems ownership and ensure all processes and best practises are documented
Strategic partnerships with GMs and Senior Leadership Team and deliver data driven insights to inform strategic planning and execution
Support with the creation for new initiatives, expansions and investment
Support One Plant living and other Lamington Group sustainability initiatives.
Maintain Lamington Group’s B-Corp status by supporting with audits and ensuring processes continue to develop in line with B-Corp principles
Support wider ESG initiatives including WELL certifications, One Planet Living, GRI report (and others as required) that align to the requirements, implementing the relevant policies and reporting on progress towards KPIs
Experience
A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is essential.
Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) is highly valued.
Progressive experience in finance, with a significant portion of that time spent in a multi-brand or multi-site environment, particularly in industries like retail or hospitality
The ability to build complex financial models for forecasting, business case analysis, and strategic planning.
Pre-Opening experience is desired
Knowledge of SUN accounting is preferred
A strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for accurate financial reporting.
The capacity to interpret complex data from various sources and translate it into actionable business insights.
The ability to look beyond the numbers and understand the strategic implications of financial data for each brand's growth and profitability.
Excellent communication skills to effectively present complex financial information to non-finance professionals, including marketing teams, brand managers, and C-suite executives.
Strong leadership and team management skills to guide a finance team and influence stakeholders across different business units.
An analytical and creative approach to solving financial and operational problems that are unique to each brand.
A deep understanding of the business landscape, market dynamics, and competitive environment for all Lamington brands.
The ability to pivot between the different needs and priorities of multiple brands and manage a diverse workload
