ABOUT THE ROLE

Event Captains are experts of the events world, exhibiting warm hospitality and moving in service with purpose and efficiency. Their working knowledge in all aspects required to execute an event is impressive, they have a substantial foundational knowledge of food and beverage, and are familiar with the hospitality industry as a whole.

EXPECTATIONS

An Event Captain is expected to:

  • Deliver expert service of our food and beverage in the event spaces, whilst adhering to the BEO.
  • Be professional at all times.
  • Exhibit qualities of flexibility and warm hospitality as well as be an effective communicator, both in writing and in speaking.
  • Represent the NoMad positivity to all internal and external stakeholders as well as act as an ambassador of our brand when out in our industry’s community.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times, including but not exclusive of, H&S policies, HR policies, day-to-day operations.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

The main responsibilities of the Event Captain are summarised below, the list is not exhaustive:

  • Event Captains are responsible for overseeing and/or supporting the Event Operations Manager in executing the smooth running of the event, or events. They are the point of contact for the booking client throughout the execution of any given event, and the team leader in charge of any agency workers or other team members from the hotel.
  • Event Captains are fully fluent in reading and understanding the BEO, to deliver a seamless experience for the client. They are proficient in using Micros to post all/any billing at the end of the day, following billing instructions given by the Sales team. They can also write accurate and effective event summary reports.
  • They have in-depth knowledge and understanding of all food and beverage that is served throughout the events spaces and are confident in conveying this information to other team members as well as guests. They can speak confidently about our different food and beverage packages and what they offer to our guests. In addition to this, they are familiar with the specifications of all our spaces and are able to share this with any interested party or guest, including the history of our space.
  • Event Captains set up the events spaces and kitchen for service, they ensure all mise en place required to execute all events of the day are available in the correct quantity. They are responsible for ensuring that the kitchen have all crockery, glassware and service ware (CGS) relevant to all dishes on the menu/menus for that day. Events Captains are responsible for supporting the Event Operations Manager in creating daily, and individual Line Ups, Expo sheets and floor plans for each event. They should be able support with calculating the required quantities of rental equipment needed (CGS/linen) on a weekly basis based on the quantity and nature of events.
  • Event Captains must be able to lead a service team, be able to explain and demonstrate our style of service, including but not limited to traffic patterns, our table numbers & positions and our order of dropping & clearing. This shall be done with such clarity that every member of the team is confident enough to deliver an excellent service.
