We are a small group of 4* hotels based in South Wales and the South West of England. We have 3 hotels altogether based in Cardiff Bay, Bristol City Centre and Plymouth. All of our hotels offer large comfortable Canadian beds, conference and meetings centres and bespoke individual restaurant and bar areas.

Our hotels offer a wide range of amenities to cater for both corporate and leisure guests; we have developed an excellent reputation within our locations boasting 4* hospitality at an affordable rate – our exceptional returning guest rate is testament to our staff and hotels.

 The Role

We are currently looking for a Night Porter. Please note that this is a casual position, with a salary of £12.71/h.
Your role will consist of general hotel reception duties, maintaining the security of our hotel, guests and grounds as well as ensuring the hotel and conference centre is ready for the day ahead. Excellent customer service skills and being proficient with Microsoft packages including the use of databases are essential. Due to the nature of the work you will also need to be reasonably fit.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service and be professional, well organised and be able to work towards deadlines.

You will be flexible, reliable, enthusiastic with a passion for hospitality and be able to work in a team and also independently.

Our hotels and conference centres are busy establishments, therefore this is very much a hands on role.

 Key Responsibilities of a Night Porter

  • Welcome and assist guests arriving or departing during the night shift in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, and hotel property by carrying out regular security patrols.
  • Monitor hotel entrances, exits, and CCTV systems, reporting any suspicious activity or incidents.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests, enquiries, and emergencies, providing excellent customer service at all times.
  • Assist with guest luggage and provide information about hotel facilities and local attractions when required.
  • Set up meeting rooms and public areas for the following day as directed.
  • Carry out routine cleaning and housekeeping duties in public areas to maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs or reporting maintenance issues to the appropriate department.
  • Support the night reception team with administrative tasks, including handling guest messages, processing payments, and preparing reports when required.
  • Conduct fire, health, and safety checks in accordance with hotel policies and legal requirements.
  • Manage deliveries and ensure all hotel entrances and service areas remain secure throughout the shift.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, guest requests, and shift activities for handover to the day team.
  • Follow hotel policies, procedures, and standards while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations during overnight hours.
