The Store Hotel is a lifestyle luxury hotel set in the heart of Oxford. We sit in the building of the historic department store and Oxford institution, Boswells. Our 101-bedroom hotel will delight guests with a sense of curiosity and wonder, reflecting the rich heritage of the building’s former life.

Purpose of the Role

To support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene are consistently delivered.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in managing all sections of the kitchen during service
• Support the Sous Chef and Head Chef in food preparation and service
• Help supervise and train junior kitchen team members
• Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standard
• Maintain consistency in quality, portion control, and presentation
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock rotation 
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations
• Step up to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Sous or Head Chef
• Assist with menu development and daily specials where required

Skills & Experience
• Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role
• Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety standards
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Passion for food and attention to detail
• Basic leadership or supervisory experience is desirable

Qualifications
• Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum, Level 3 preferred)
• Relevant culinary qualifications (desirable but not essential)
