Restaurant & Events Supervisor
The Perch Inn, Oxford

The Perch Inn is a destination public house, restaurant, and wedding venue set on the picturesque banks of the River Thames. Renowned for its exceptional setting, food, and service, The Perch offers a unique experience to every guest.

The Restaurant & Events Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of both the restaurant and event spaces. Working closely with the Events Manager and Senior Restaurant Management Team, you’ll help coordinate daily operations, manage events, and guarantee that every guest—whether dining or attending a special event—has an unforgettable experience.

This hybrid role requires an individual with a sharp eye for detail, a passion for service, and the ability to lead by example. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to delivering exceptional experiences to our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service across all areas of the business, ensuring a memorable dining and event experience.
  • Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth communication between Front of House and the kitchen, and delivering top-tier service to all guests. Pre-shift briefings are a must!
  • Assist the Events Manager in planning and executing a flawless customer experience for weddings, events, and large marquee functions, leading each service with excellence while maintaining a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of food and beverage offerings, ensuring you set an example for the team and deliver day-to-day training.
  • Guide staff with product knowledge to enhance guest experience, helping to develop a team that is both knowledgeable and attentive.
  • Support line managers in the execution of training programs and oversee the quality of service during events, ensuring high standards are met.
  • Approach your role with organization and attention to detail to deliver a smooth and error-free service.
  • Assist with wedding and event administration, manage restaurant reservations, and handle customer inquiries.
  • Monitor staff costs and productivity during shifts, ensuring adherence to targets set by the General Manager. Financial awareness is a crucial part of this role.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience in hospitality or event management is preferred, but candidates with a strong hospitality background and high standards who are looking to grow in the industry will also be considered.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage with guests in a warm, confident, and professional manner.
  • A proactive, solution-focused attitude and a strong team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Own transport (car or bike) is required, as we are located in a small village, though with parking available on-site.
  • Excellent presentation and adherence to uniform requirements.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to solving problems as they arise.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to contribute to the growth of an independent business, where your ideas and input are valued.
  • Work in an exciting, fast-paced environment with a close-knit team.
  • In-house training and development in all areas of the role, with opportunities to improve skills and deliver excellence.
  • Staff discounts and incentives across the company sites.
