We need an exceptional and passionate foodie to join & lead our kitchen team as Sous Chef. ABOUT GENERATOR HAMBURG

Generator Hamburg is located in the heart of the city, opposite Hauptbahnhof station. John, Paul, George and Ringo once recorded here before they hit the big time. Now it's a hostel, a bar, a morning café, an art house and a favourite neighbourhood hangout.

With work by local artist Till Keifer and design touches such as exposed brick walls and floor-to-ceiling windows, you'll feel right at home in this smart and cosy hostel.

NUTS AND BOLTS OF THE JOB

  • To support the Head Chef to ensure the smooth running of kitchen operations
  • To take full control of the Kitchen in Head Chef’s absence and to carry out all responsibilities
  • To help to maintain highest possible standard of food and help create ways of developing new concepts to maintain growth of business
  • Understand departmental forecasts and the importance of their contribution to the business success
  • To assist with menu compilation, costing, team building and rota compilation
  • Monitor stock and assist the Head Chef with stock control and ordering
  • To ensure all equipment is functional and properly maintained
  • Ensure all aspects of Health, Safety, Hygiene, Welfare, Guest Safety, Fire Regulations, Emergency procedures etc. are adhered to within the Kitchen Department
  • To maintain as best a working relationship with all staff, encourage and support work colleagues, keep team briefed at all times
  • Lead and motivate staff in order to encourage and obtain maximum commitment and encourage a flexible approach
  • To be flexible and assist in other areas of the Kitchen if needed at short notice

  • Experience working within the hospitality/service industry in a similar capacity for at least 2 years
  • A passion for your city, for travelling and for trending food and drinks concepts
  • Knowledge of contemporary interests and the city
  • Have a genuine interest and enthusiasm for service
