Situated in the heart of Glastonbury, The George & Pilgrims Inn is a historic establishment dating back to the 15th century. As a Grade I listed building, it boasts a rich heritage, having originally served as accommodation for pilgrims visiting the nearby Glastonbury Abbey. The inn's medieval architecture, including stone mullioned windows and arched doorways, offers guests a unique and atmospheric experience steeped in history.
The inn features 14 en-suite rooms, each retaining original features while providing modern comforts. Guests can enjoy a cozy stay and the central location provides easy access to local attractions, shops, and the renowned Glastonbury Tor.
Culinary offerings at The George & Pilgrims Inn celebrate traditional British pub fare. The menu includes hearty pies, steaks, and a selection of classic dishes. The bar serves a variety of real ales, craft beers, and a curated selection of wines and spirits, providing the perfect accompaniment to any meal or a relaxing drink in the historic surroundings.
The job in a nutshell
Assist with the preparation and cooking of menu items under the guidance of senior chefs
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food hygiene
Learn how to manage ingredients, prep, plating, and kitchen safety
Support the team during busy service times and contribute to a positive kitchen environment
Take every opportunity to grow your skills and confidence
A genuine interest in food and cooking
A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude
Ability to take instruction and work calmly under pressure
Previous kitchen experience is helpful but not essential – full training provided
