Description
GERBER GROUP at TWA Hotel is seeking Bartenders and Barbacks to join our Queens team!

Hospitality industry leader, Gerber Group, encompasses iconic venues under such brands as Mr. Purple, The Campbell Bar, Irvington Bar and Restaurant, Taco Electrico, The Crown at 50 Bowery, and The Sunken Lounge at the TWA Hotel, in New York City; additionally, Whiskey Blue in Atlanta, and 12 Stories Bar in Washington, D.C. are included in Gerber Group’s growing portfolio of venues.

The ideal candidate is a hardworking and organized individual who thinks creatively. Must communicate effectively in all mediums and at a quick pace. He or she should enjoy solving problems in a high pressure environment. Organization and time management skills are vital. A background in hospitality is required.

Requirements:
•1-2 years of hospitality experience in respective positions

Bartenders must be willing and able to:
• Complete required training and certifications for the respective positions
• Stand and/or walk an entire shift
• Safely transport items, weighing up to 30 pounds, throughout areas of operation on a slick and uneven surface and stairs where applicable
• Work a variable and flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays.
• Refrain from smoking during shift
• Prepare alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for bar and restaurant patrons
• Interact with customers, take orders and serve snacks and drinks
• Assess customers needs and preferences and make recommendations
• Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails
• Plan and present bar menu
• Check customers identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age
• Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
• Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
• Comply with all food and beverage regulations
• Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.

Barbacks must be willing and able to:
•Stock and restock appropriate areas with liquor, beer, wine, glassware, miscellaneous bar supplies, ice, etc.
•Move and transport filled glass racks, ice, cases of liquor, beer, and wine, etc.
•Mechanically and manually wash and sanitize bar and glass wares.
•Maintain cleanliness of bar and bar/storage areas.
•Prepare mixes (juices, sweet n’ sour, bloody mary mix, etc.) and prepare needed for recipes of mixed beverages.
•Safely and efficiently use knives and other utensils/equipment necessary to complete beverage set up.
•Properly change beer kegs, CO2 tanks, and soda and wine dispensers.
•Operate all functions of barback service alone and without assistance if necessary.
•Account for and maintain security of bar and storage room(s) inventories.
•Perform functions contained in BUS and/or PORTER job descriptions.
•Complete sidework as assigned in a timely manner.
•Complete coffee orders according to standing operating procedures.
•Communicate with guest in a friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
•Perform more than one task at a time.
•Perform calmly and effectively under pressure.
•Communicate effectively with guests and co-workers.
•Communicate problems to management immediately.

AIRTRAIN VIA SUBWAY OR LIRR
Guests can take the Long Island Railroad or NYC subway (E, J, and Z lines) to Sutphin Boulevard-Archer
Avenue Station; or to Howard Beach Station (A line), and connect to JFK Terminal 5 via the AirTrain.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE BY AIRTRAIN, TERMINAL 5
Exit the AirTrain at Terminal 5 (JetBlue).
When you arrive at Terminal 5, take the escalator upstairs to the parking garage.
Make a RIGHT toward the parking garage. Do not take the moving walkway toward JetBlue Terminal 5
Take the elevator down to Level 1 of the parking garage.
Once on Level 1, make a RIGHT out of the elevator and walk toward the exit.
Cross the street to the entrance of the TWA Flight Center on your left-hand side.

MTA LOCAL BUSES
The Q3 which is the blue line begins in Farmers Boulevard to JFK Airport.
The Q10 which is the green line begins in Kew Gardens to JFK Airport.
The B15 which is the red line begins in Bed Stuy Brooklyn to JFK Terminal 5 Airport.
Once you exit the last stop on the bus lines you should see the hotel on the right side of the bus stop.

DRIVING AND PARKING, FROM TERMINAL 5 EXIT
Follow yellow signs for Terminal 5 (JetBlue).
When you take the exit for Terminal 5 (JetBlue) keep LEFT toward “Parking.”
Stay in the LEFT lane to arrive at the parking garage entrance. You want to select the “Yellow” parking lot. The TWA Flight Center is visible on the right.
Once you arrive at the Terminal 5 parking garage, parking is $4 per vehicle for every ½ hour, or $33 / 24hrs.
After parking your vehicle, exit the parking garage on Level 1 and cross the street to reach the front entrance.

BY TAXI OR CAR SERVICE, FROM TERMINAL 5 EXI
Follow yellow signs for Terminal 5 (JetBlue).
When you take the exit for Terminal 5 (JetBlue) keep LEFT toward “Parking.”
As soon as you follow the sign toward parking, stay in the MIDDLE lane.
The middle lane will bring you directly to the front entrance of the TWA Flight Center.

PLEASE NOTE: If you miss the exit and end up at the Terminal 5 (JetBlue), you must either loop around again, or exit the vehicle at Terminal 5. You will see the TWA Flight Center directly in front of you. Walk to the RIGHT around the TWA Flight Center, cross the street to the LEFT, and you will find the front entrance of the building. Please be careful crossing the street.
