Description
IMPORTANT: Must be 18+, must be available to work weekends and evenings, including 31st December.

Established in 1994, our award-winning venues have been hosting events for over 30 years, including comedy, music, drag, podcasts, talks/Q&As & spoken word. Described by The Guardian as “enormously well-regarded”, we pride ourselves on a commitment to excellence & innovation in live events.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion, and are keen to attract people of different backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. We particularly encourage applications from historically underrepresented communities for all roles. Just like our venues are designed for everyone, so is our workplace, and we work hard to create an inclusive culture for everyone.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking person, with experience in sound & lighting to join our tech team as a cover tech for shifts. The majority of our shows are simple stand up shows that require a basic knowledge of audio engineering and how to operate a Chamsys lighting desk. We are looking for someone confident, that can stay calm under pressure and can problem solve and troubleshoot if and when things go wrong. During the summer months we are quieter but shifts pick up from September through to June - shifts may not be regular but we are looking for someone to cover shifts when our in house tech is off or if we have multiple shows on.

Pay: £14.60 per hour. Paid 4 weekly.

Job Role & Responsibilities

  • Sound & Lighting desk operation and programming
  • Using QLab to run cues if needed
  • Basic programming of lights / projector / screens
  • Liaising with our Production Co-Ordinator and confirming show tech specs in advance of shows.
  • Correct storage of all equipment and highlighting items for maintenance.
  • Acts and artist hospitality
  • Show announcements
  • Stage setup if required

Things To Know:

  • Shifts usually start between 5pm - 6.00pm (sometimes as early as 3pm on music shows) and generally finish between 10.00pm and 11.30pm. Typical 4-6 hour shift.

  • We are one of the longest running comedy club chains in the UK. We are open every Friday and Saturday for our weekly comedy nights, as well as being available to hire to some of biggest names in comedy, music, drag, cabaret and spoken word the rest of the week.

Perks:

  • Free tickets to shows you're not working * (if they are our shows)

  • Shifts finish early enough to still go out afterwards.

  • Friendly, inclusive and interesting place to work.
