Description
We are looking for someone interested in doing great work and producing quality products every day through attention, effort, and craft. Join a lineage of "the keepers of the flame" and use your roasting skills or learn new skills with our expert roasting team. We are looking for process-oriented individuals who want to be part of an age of craft that cares about coffee and achieving excellence.
We are looking for people with experience however we are open to teaching the right candidate if you are a culture fit and share our passion for coffee and craft.
These positions do not open often (first time in over 5 years) so if you were looking to join a passionate roasting team, now is your chance.
Assistant Roaster Role
- Roasting machine operator, support to Head Roaster
- Maintain the quality and consistency of the coffee through excellent roasting skill and careful maintenance of roasting equipment and production floor.
- Person in charge when the Head Roaster is not present.
- Operate the roaster with integrity and a safety-conscious mind.
- Produce consistent, quality coffee products daily
- Participate in quality control cupping
- Communicate any late days or absences to Head Roaster
- Roast green coffee samples as needed
- Carry out the directives set forth by Head Roaster or DO
- Assist with inspecting green coffee arrivals to ensure they are the proper ingredients and in good standing according the to terms of our contracts
- Support the roasting team when needed in bagging, weighing, grinding etc.
- Contribute to the condition of the roastery by cleaning daily and participating in deeper cleaning weekly and specialized cleanings quarterly.
- Uphold all rules and safety standards personally while holding the team to the same standards.
- Place weekly coffee order if Head Roaster is not available
- Review all wholesale/online/cross country orders are prepared and labeled accurately before box is sealed and ready to be shipped
